Results of the randomized trial
vape supplier claim that e-cigarettes help tobacco users quit smoking, and that e-cigarettes release nicotine, doubling long-term smoking cessation. A recent randomized demonstration involving nearly 900 participants found that e-cigarettes are actually doubly competing with true smoking replacement therapy to help cigarette consumers quit smoking within 1-12 months.
Despite the rapid spread of e-cigarettes in the UK and US, smoking rates have fallen. In the UK, details of an undefined framework assessment found that increased e-cigarette use among smokers in England was actually positively associated with overall quit rates and quit success costs. The study shows that smoking cessation prices are significantly higher for e-cigarette buyers.
These data are observational and cannot show factors and outcomes, but they do improve the evidence that e-cigarettes have not disrupted the decline in cigarette use. However, there is no information that e-cigarette use has slowed the decline in youth smoking rates.
In fact, cigarette prices for teens in the U.S. have fallen even faster due to demand for e-cigarettes. Undefined tobacco users who light up will never exhibit preventable health conditions, but in the UK it is definitely not that undefined smokers will age into standard smoking cigarette consumers (Action on Smoking and Health, 2019) .
